Bed bug, a notable nocturnal blood sucking parasite of man, has moved with man all over the world, they have a flat, oval-shaped body with no wings. Their colour is shiny reddish-brown but after a blood-meal they become swollen, and dark brown in colour, they feed by piercing their host’s tissue with slender thread-like sty lets and sucking the host’s blood. They are mainly important as a biting nuisance. Some people, show little or no reaction to the bites, which appear as small red spots that may not even cause any itch. People that have never been bitten before may suffer from local inflammation, intense itching, and sleepless nights. Scratching may cause secondary infections. They are one of the most important urban human pests, and are often disliked more than cockroaches.
